How Monthly Post Limits Work
BlogFlux subscription plans include a set number of AI-generated posts per month. Understanding how these limits work helps you maximize your subscription.
Post Limits by Plan
- Starter: 15 posts per month
- Pro: 65 posts per month
- Enterprise: 250 posts per month
What Counts as a Post?
Counts Toward Your Limit:
- ✓ Successfully generated post (content + SEO optimization complete)
- ✓ Posts generated via web interface
- ✓ Posts generated via API
- ✓ Published posts
- ✓ Unpublished/draft posts
- ✓ Scheduled posts
- ✓ Regenerated posts (each regeneration counts as a new post)
Does NOT Count:
- ✗ Failed generations (errors, timeouts)
- ✗ Deleted posts (deletion doesn't restore credit)
- ✗ Posts from previous billing cycles
- ✗ Editing existing posts
- ✗ Republishing existing posts to WordPress
When Do Limits Reset?
Billing Cycle Reset (NOT Calendar Month)
Important: Your limits reset based on your billing cycle, not the calendar month.
Example:
- Subscription start date: October 15
- Billing cycle: 15th of each month
- Limits reset: October 15, November 15, December 15, etc.
Finding Your Reset Date
- Go to Dashboard
- Look at the Usage Stats section
- Your reset date is shown under "Next billing cycle"
You can also find it in: Account Settings → Subscription → Billing Details
Tracking Your Usage
Dashboard Usage Meter
Your dashboard shows:
- Posts used this cycle: 8 / 15
- Posts remaining: 7
- Reset date: November 15, 2025
Real-Time Updates
Usage updates immediately after each successful generation. Check your dashboard before generating if you're close to your limit.
What Happens When You Hit Your Limit?
Limit Reached
When you reach your monthly limit:
- You'll see an error: "Monthly post limit reached"
- Content generation button becomes disabled
- API requests return
403 Forbiddenerror - You can still view, edit, and republish existing posts
Your Options:
- Wait for reset: Limits automatically reset at the start of your next billing cycle
- Upgrade plan: Get more posts immediately (see below)
- Contact sales: For custom enterprise plans with higher limits
Upgrading Mid-Cycle
Immediate Limit Increase
When you upgrade your plan mid-cycle:
- New limits take effect immediately
- You get full access to the higher plan's monthly limit
- Pro-rated billing applies (you only pay for the remaining days)
Example:
- Current plan: Starter (15 posts)
- Posts used: 15 (limit reached)
- Upgrade to: Pro (65 posts)
- New availability: 65 posts total (you've used 15, have 50 remaining)
Image Limits vs Post Limits
Separate Limits
Posts and images have separate monthly limits:
| Plan | Posts/Month | Images/Month | Images/Post |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | 15 | 30 | Max 2 |
| Pro | 65 | 325 | Max 5 |
| Enterprise | 250 | 1,500 | Max 6 |
How They Work Together
- You can generate posts without images (uses 0 image credits)
- Each post can use 0 to your plan's max images per post
- Hitting image limit doesn't block post generation (posts without images still work)
- Both limits reset at the same time (billing cycle start)
Pro Tips for Managing Limits
Optimize Your Usage
- Plan ahead: Know your content calendar for the month
- Avoid unnecessary regenerations: Review carefully before regenerating
- Use scheduling: Schedule posts to spread throughout the month
- Monitor dashboard: Check usage regularly to avoid surprises
- Generate in batches: Plan 5-10 posts at once for efficiency
Maximizing Your Posts
- Quality over quantity: Better to generate 10 great posts than 15 mediocre ones
- Edit before regenerating: Minor edits are free, regeneration uses a credit
- Use custom instructions: Get it right the first time with clear instructions
- Save templates: Reuse successful custom instructions to reduce regenerations
Common Questions
Can unused posts roll over to next month?
No, unused posts don't roll over. Each billing cycle gives you a fresh allocation.
If I delete a post, do I get the credit back?
No, deleting a post doesn't restore your monthly credit. The generation already consumed AI resources.
What if I only use 5 posts on a 15-post plan?
The unused 10 posts don't roll over. Consider downgrading to Starter if you consistently under-utilize.
Can I buy additional posts without upgrading?
Currently, no. The only way to get more posts is to upgrade your plan. Contact sales for custom arrangements.
